Grants in Action... 2002-2003

Each fall the Community Foundation accepts grants proposal from local nonprofit organizations. These grants are made possible from the following funds: Lucille Murchison Marvin Fund, Alper Family Memorial Fund, Codington Memorial Fund and the Community Foundation of Southeastern North Carolina Discretionary Fund. The focus area for this years grants was Arts Education. The Distribution Committee of the Community Foundation of Southeastern North Carolina reviewed 38 grant proposals. Each year we receive requests far in excess of funds available. Because of the state of our economy, we had 50% fewer dollars available to allocate to organizations than last year. As a result, we had to decline support for many worthwhile organizations and programs. However, we are pleased to announce that 14 organizations received grants totaling $10,000.00.
